1. Exercise extreme caution when dealing with wire instructions. Always verify the instructions before placing your trust in them. No matter how authentic an email, text message, phone call, letter, website, or other communication may appear, it could be a fraudulent imitation.

2. Refrain from using any phone numbers, hyperlinks, email addresses, or email attachments provided in unverified messages. These elements may be incorrect or pose a security risk. If you receive a suspicious phone call, politely end the conversation, and contact a number you trust.

3. Always verify your wire instructions by directly calling your settlement agent using a trusted phone number. This number should either be on record or obtained from a reliable source. During the call, ensure to verify any account numbers or names provided in the instructions.

4. Obtain wire instructions exclusively from your settlement agent. As a lender, we do not send wire instructions. If you receive wire instructions from anyone other than your settlement agent, it may indicate an attempted scam.

5. Take a moment to pause, reflect, and proceed cautiously. Be vigilant if someone urges you to send money immediately or presents unexpected last-minute changes. Only transmit your funds after confidently following these steps, without rushing.

6. Only utilize wire transfer for sending funds, using validated wire instructions provided by your settlement agent. Never employ alternative payment methods such as ACH (automatic clearing house) bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or any other transfer service.

7. If you suspect that your wire was erroneously sent to the wrong recipient, promptly contact your bank or wire transfer company to request a wire recall. Only use phone numbers you trust for this purpose. The likelihood of reversing a fraudulent transfer diminishes the longer you delay.
